Bruce GILBERD Obituary

GILBERD, Bruce Carlyle (Bishop, CNZM). Passed away peacefully at his home in Tairua, on 19th December, 2023; aged 85 years. Dearly loved husband of Pat, father of Catherine, Stephen, and Paul, father-in- law of James, Michele and Jo, and Poppa of Charlie, Zachary, and Lily. A family funeral service was held in Tairua, followed by cremation. A service of commemoration for Bruce will be held at St George The Martyr Anglican Church, 602 Mackay Street, Thames, on Friday 19th January, at 1pm.

I'm so sorry to hear of Bruce's passing. Since our time at King's where he was a very dear friend and mentor, I have always admired Bruce for his sense of humour, service to others and his dedication and passion to people and causes he cared about. We have stayed in touch over all these years, always making sure to reconnect when I made my way back to Auckland for visits. Bruce will be missed by many but his memories will last forever. What an amazing legacy! Rest in peace Bruce.
