Colin DAVEY Obituary

DAVEY, Dr Colin Lester. PhD (Cambridge) May 21, 1929 - August 12, 2024 We are sad to announce the death of Lester, a scientist, lover of the arts, a raconteur and a friend to so many. Loving husband to Ruth for 60 years and devoted dad to Sam. We are happy he is at peace after a life lived to the full. At Lester's request, a gathering of family and friends will be held shortly. Please RSVP to [email protected] if you would like to attend.

Worked at MIRINZ in the early 80's when Lester was in charge. Lester was always a pleasure to encounter, took an interest in a person and took the time to interact genuine way. Old fashioned approach for sure but a great gift. Every part of the world he moved in was a better place. Sorry to read of his passing.

Lester was a long time friend of my father and closer than a brother. He was our much loved adopted "uncle". A trip to Hamilton always included a visit to Lester and Ruth. They were an amazing, intelligent, enthusiastic couple and we'll miss them.
