I remember being in awe of Michal when I started as a graphic artist at the New Zealand Women's Werkly in 1986. She had a pared back elegance I have never seen since; her own inimitable style that was nothing to do with what was in fashion and what wasn't. Timeless really. I didn't work under her for long, although I was at the Weekly for nearly nine years .but she was always gracious.
