David WHALEY Obituary

WHALEY, David Galbraith. 16/07/1940 - 21/01/2025. After a long difficult journey with dementia, David has set off for the stars, calling at Rotorua, New Plymouth, Ghana and Ireland on the way. Dearly loved husband of Jan. Wonderful father and father-in-law of Kathryn and Ronan, Patrick and Grainne, and Liam and Kara. And adored Poppy of Jacob, Tom, Sean, Max, Ben, Ciaran, Aoife, Sinead, Conall, Muireann, and Aodhan. David was a gifted teacher and an empathetic school inspector. He found joy in choral singing, pipe bands and Irish music. He will be sadly missed by so many and especially by his New Zealand and Irish families. A service for David will be held at the Woodside Estate, Woodside Road, Matangi on Saturday, the 25th of January 2025. at 2:00 pm, followed by private family cremation. In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to Starship Hospital. All communications to the WHALEY family PO Box 439, Hamilton 3216.

My condolences on the loss of David. So sad that the last years of his life were so challenging for him.
