Leonardus Antonius Gerardus "Leon" DIRKS

Leonardus DIRKS Obituary

On July 27, 2025, at Christchurch Hospital, in his 80th year. Born in Heerlen, Limburg, the Netherlands, and lived in NZ for 60 years. Much loved husband of Liz, and former husband of Elaine and Pam; loved father of Aimee, Richard and Julian, and stepfather of Jamie, Stephen and Michael; treasured Opa of Olivia and George, Arlo, Matthew, Bella and Joshua, and Ava, Ruby and Samuel. A private memorial will be held at a later date, as per Leon's wishes. Messages to Dirks Family, c/- PO Box 121, Timaru 7940.

As Jan Hendriks all ready wrote. I also was a member of the group of friends that accomaniod leon to the airport when he went to New Sealand. Unfortunality i have had only some e-mail contact with him. In all these passed years i hoped to meet him some where some time.it is a pitty that this will not happen. Be strong may My old friend rest in preace.

Leon was a fine person, member of a small group of boys who played and had fun in Heerlen. We accompanied him to the airport in Amsterdam when he left for N.Z. That was the last time I saw him and spoke to him.
May he rest in peace and may his family cherish the good memories of him.

So sad to hear our friend Leon has passed away. We worked at F&P together in Mosgiel for many years had many a laugh. Leon was our best man at our wedding known as the best man and I was always the bride. Leon was a kind caring sole who was always happy to lend a hand in times of need. Rest Easy our dutch friend we will remember you always. Love and hugs to Liz and family.
