I know Adele from her time in Sana'a, Yemen, when her goodness brought light to us all. She was loved by her neighbours in the Old City of Sana'a, and especially by 'my' family there (they 'adopted' me), the Sayrafis, who still live in the house opposite Adele's.
We hadn't been in touch for far too long. But Adele has been on our minds even more so than usual recently. Maybe - though this sounds whimsical - she came to bid us farewell.
Rest in peace, our dear, sweet friend, knowing that you've left loving memories with people far away in place and time, but joined now with all your family and friends in remembering you.

Two things immediately jump to mind when I think of Adele.
Firstly that cheeky smile! A little mischief mixed with so much love, generosity and understanding. We shared a love of art, design and things well done. We travelled the continents together and we enjoyed each others quirks and naughtiness.
And secondly, her zest for life. Everything she involved herself in was always done thoughtfully, empathetically and with gusto. I feel blessed to have known her. Farewell friend x
