Alan EYLES Obituary

Passed away peacefully on 21 February 2026, after spending loving time with his family. Aged 90 years. Loved husband of Pat and loved father, father-in-law of (the late) David, Helen & Claire, Ali & (the late) Shaun, Steve, and Andrew & Jane. Loved granddad and great granddad to Dylan, Joel, Cullen, Remy, Kaitlin, Nathan, Joshua and Bailee. Loved brother, uncle and friend. A private cremation has taken place in accordance with his wishes. A Memorial Service to celebrate Alan's life will be held at the Otaihanga Boating Club, 19 Makora Road, Otaihanga, on Monday, 9th March, at 11am. (PLEASE NOTE CHANGE OF VENUE). All who knew Alan are welcome to attend and the family warmly invite all to join them after the service for refreshments.

Alan did so much taxonomic work on Hemiptera, particularly the Miridae, to determine the species present in New Zealand and how they related to world species. His taxonomic work will be one of his legacies to N.Z. entomology.
