I remember going to GreenHouse Books at Paraparaumu Beach years ago, a bookshop with coffee-ahead of its time! I was warmly welcomed by Helen and Alan and encouraged to join my first book group. Alan was a gentleman and always had time for a hello.

I am sorry I missed the death notice of Alan's death. I met him at Coastlands Mall food court and we got chatting and having the occasional coffee along with Helen. He was a lovely man and I enjoyed chatting with him about his life etc. I noticed that I hadn't seen them both lately so was sad to hear of his passing. Please accept my deepest condolences for a lovely man.
