Dear Bill and Andy
Fond memories of your kind hospitality when we met as friends and colleagues in Geneva. I am so sorry to have lost touch and regret your loss. You were a loving couple but I give thanks for Bill´s life and his accomplishments.

I wonder if people know that in his youth at Queenstown, Bill was a very promising ski racer and won lots of local ski races. I don't think he skied much after moving to Auckland, but did ski quite a bit in Switzerland during his posting as a diplomat to the NZ Embassy in Geneva.

Loved son of Jessie and Albie Dawson and brother of Lynette (Australia). Bill, together with his sharp wit and dry sense of humour, will be sadly missed by all.

Our teacher was the rugby master and was well aware of what Bill was doing, but he accepted Bill's explanation that he had music lessons on Saturdays. One Monday, Bill turned up with a badly bruised and cut face. The teacher asked: Were you hit by a metronome?
