I'm shocked and saddened at Bruce's passing. I first met Bruce in Mrs Weir's new entrants class at Oxford Cresent School, in Upper Hutt, in 1968. We went through school together. English was not his favourite subject at college, and I can even now hear him saying "I don't care what Hamhead, (Hamlet), did!" He was widely known as Bruce the Goose, or Goose Millard, a play on his name and a friendly nickname. He was a damn fine woodworker, making many beautiful things, and a very good friend. He was a good rifle shot too. We shot together at Upper Hutt Smallbore Rifle Club, and together represented Heretaunga College in the school shooting team, winning the Hutt Valley competition in 1980.
So long Bruce,
