Chris, Pru and family lived 2 doors up the road from my late mum and dad Heather and Arthur May
I baby sat their 3 small children once a week when I was about 15 or 16 when they went out can't remember where but I had to threaten I'd put there pajamason them if they didn't get into bed This was 47 years ago
I loved playing the record Johnathan Livingston Seagull on their turntable after getting the children to bed
I never envisioned the day that this would be my swan song for Chris's parting of this world
But the words and lyrics feel appropriate to wish him fly baby fly
And thanks for sharing your kindness with me
Love to Pru and the (not so) kids

Dear Prue, We are so sorry to hear of Chris's death. We first met Chris in Auckland in 1973 when he called at at place to interview us after hoping to recruit Vic to his work place. That was the beginning of a long association and friendship including staying at your home in Plimmerton. We send our sincere sympathy and love to you and your family from Invercargill where we have retired to.

Chris was a very special friend of my late husband Tim. He and his wife Pru have been wonderful friends to us both ever since we first met up in the 1970s. We have enjoyed combined holidays and camping/tramping trips in NZ over the years and more recently in retirement years have seen much more of each other while living on the Kapiti Coast. Chris will be greatly missed. Very special love and hugs to Pru and all the Durrant family from our family at this time of loss. Joanna Nicol.
