David RODDA Obituary

It is with great sorrow we announce the departure of David Rodda, who passed away peacefully on Thursday, 15 January 2026; aged 88 years, surrounded by his loving family. A heartfelt thank you to the amazing staff of Waikato and Hutt Hospitals for excellent care in his last few days. Dave was the cherished partner of Joan, devoted husband to the late Hilda, loved father and father-in-law to Tony and Nicky, Meredith and Justin, Angela and Shaw, Anna and Steve. A treasured grandad to Millie, Ben, Matt, Isabella, Sam and Deijah, William, Kate, Lydia and George and great-grandad to Noah. Son of the late George and Amy, brother to Beth, special friend to Joan's daughter Megan. A lawn bowler of considerable skill and a great friend to many. Funeral to be held at Sacred Heart Church, 41 Britannia Street, Petone, 1.00pm Tuesday, 20 January 2026, to be followed by a gathering to share stories and celebrate Dave's life in the manner he would have wished at the Hutt Bowling Club.

Growing up with Tony from primary school, whenever I saw Dave, always a smile on his face. Dave and Hilda were both outstanding people.
