Although it's been 20 years since I left Vancouver and the Kiwi Performing group Dawn taught, I have amazing memories of that time and friendships within our group. Dawn was an inspiration and a dear teacher who brought me closer to my Maori culture. I proudly keep my performing piupiu sent from NZ. I live near Wgn now and share condolences to all Dawn's whanau, near and afar. Dale 0272079695

I was fortunate to be part of the Kiwi Performers in Vancouver. Dawn was a gentle teacher and I will always be grateful for all she taught me. Dawn and I regularly walked the seawall in Stanley Park and I will cherish those times together. Dawn, you will be in my thoughts and heart.

My husband Joe was in a group of Maori performers who left New Zealand in 1963 to promote New Zealand tourism. Dawn was instrumental in organizing the group.
They spent two years in Los Angeles and in 1965 five of them made their way to Vancouver.
For the next 50 years Dawn became a beloved member of our family. She was like a sister to Joe and aunt to our two children. She celebrated Christmases, Thanksgivings and birthdays always treating us to one of her famous pavlovas.
Rest in peace, dear Dawn and may you continue to sing and dance with Joe, Taite, Kim and Aggie.
Arohanui,
Linda

I live in Burnaby B.C. & knew Dawn through the Anza Club. I was in her Maori Dance Group. She taught us many songs & dances. We danced @ many places & retirement homes & was in parades too. I have many fond memories & pictures, will always treasure our times together. Dawn was a wonderful & kind person, always willing to go the extra mile to help us understand the meanings behind the songs & dances. You are so missed Dawn. Rest In Peace. As Ever Evelyn Dyck

I previously lived in Vancouver, B.C., Canada and not only knew Dawn through the ANZA Club, where she performed, but was involved in her Maori Dancing group. She taught a group of us various songs which we performed at venues including Retirement Homes. I still have children in Vancouver and visited Dawn yearly where she lived on Granville Island. I always sang Pokarekare Ana to her when I visited but the past couple of years Dawn wasn't able to smile with me. Dawn was talented and embraced her culture. She was a loving, gentle and kind person and I will treasure the years I spent with her. Rest in Peace Dawn. You will be missed.
