Yesterday

Derek was Ambassador to Brussels. It was a busy post, long hours, as he and the team skillfully worked with the EC. Derek was a very fair boss with a great sense of humour. I enjoyed working for him.

Jo and I are so sorry to see this, Trish.
Derek was such a sensible, friendly, and easy contact for me to deal with back in the day re ILO matters, unlike some of the MFAT personages we had to endure! Our thoughts are with you.

I was saddened to hear of Derek's passing. I will always remember his kindness - even when he was in a senior leadership position and I had only just started my Ministry career. He had a way of making people feel valued, and that left a lasting impression. My thoughts are with his family and loved ones at this time.
