Frank LONG Obituary

Born 25 March 1945 in Palmerston North, passed away 13 December 2025 in Hastings, aged 80 years. A devoted husband to Cathy for over 50 years and loved father and father-in-law of Colette & Greg, Rachel, and Peter & Hazel, grandfather of Jenae, Katie, Gus, and Rian (dec), and brother and brother-in-law of Alan (dec) & Jennifer, Brian & Robin, Jenny (dec), Michael & Maura (Ireland), and Peter (dec) & Carol (Ireland). Frank will be remembered by many in Hawke's Bay as a sports journalist for the Hawke's Bay Herald Tribune, Hawke's Bay Today, and Dominion Post newspapers, and in particular for his passions for grassroots rugby, history, fine wine, and having a beer or a smoke with his many and diverse friends. Frank's funeral will be held at the Havelock North Function Centre, Te Mata Road, Havelock North, on Wednesday, 17 December 2025 at 2.00pm.
