Gary COOPER Obituary

On Monday, 22 December 2025, at Wellington Hospital in his 87th year. Of Waikanae, formerly Upper Hutt. Dearly loved husband of Sherry. Much loved father and father-in-law of Bronwyn and Gary, Jacqui and Dean, and Gill. Treasured grandfather of Jakob, Karter, Brie, and Jessica. Big brother and brother-in-law of Wal and Sue. Sadly missed by his extended family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to CCS Disability Action would be appreciated at https://shorturl.at/3AY3e. A service to celebrate the life of Super Duper Gary Cooper will be held at Cedarwood, 17 Parata Street, Waikanae, on Monday, 29 December 2025, at 2pm, followed by private cremation.

Deepest sympathy to Sherry and family for your sad loss. Gary was a wondeful caring person fond memories of College days and especislly College Reunions and of our Foundation get togethers sharing friendship and school days lots of laughs he will forever be in our thoughts.

Fond memories of Friday nights with the kids on the floor with fish and chips, sherry or wine for the ladies and a couple of beers for the boys while we reviewed the week´s work at Central Cooper and swapped stories. Good times with a great man who was honest and trustworthy throughout his long, fulfilling life.

Fond memories of my time with Gary in Upper Hutt Jaycees in the 1970's, particularly when Gary was President and I was Secretary. Very happy times. Gary was a wonderful man and it was great to have associated with him and enjoy his Company. RIP
