I knew Graeme through his work for teachers through PPTA. He was a committed activist who supported members in a variety of regional roles, then as president. He was a principled and insightful leader who built bridges and encouraged ethical behaviour.

I worked alongside Graeme on the New Appointments National Panel for Kahui Ako from its inception. He was always supportive, professional, and generous with his knowledge. Graeme was a talented and highly skilled leader in education, and his contribution to the sector will never be forgotten. I will always treasure the books he gifted me. My condolences to his family. Graeme appointed me to the New Appointments National Panel for Kahui Ako and trained me to do the job. He was always professional, patient and supportive. He placed the interests of learners first and he was passionate about improving the capability of teachers. He made a huge contribution to education in Aotearoa over his lifetime.
My sincere sympathy to all his family and friends. May he rest in peace.

I worked alongside Graeme as a PPTA Executive member during the bulk funding battles throughout the 1990s-early 2000s. His knowledge, I sought, during my PhD Journey, formed part of my project development about inclusive education. I was fortunate to assist his special needs students when he was Principal at Rosehill College. A talented and devoted educator who will be sorely missed and always remembered Rest in peace - Dr Judy Selvaraj
