Irene MURRAY Obituary
Passed away peacefully on 8 March 2026 at Kemp Home and Hospital, aged 87 years. Dearly-loved wife of the late Stan. Adored youngest daughter of the late John and Rose Anne. Beloved sister and sister-in-law of Robert (dec), Bill (dec) and Eileen, Dorothy (dec), George (dec), Stan (dec) and Molly (dec), Myra (dec) and Jackie (dec), Jean (dec) and Jim, Alan (dec) and Jocelyn, Tommy (dec), and Anne (dec). Cherished mother and mother-in-law of Alan, Stuart and Yumiko, Iain and Lisa. A loving grandma and step-grandma to Aya and Sophie. Irene was a treasured aunty to her many nieces and nephews. She will be deeply missed by her family and the dear friends she made over the years. Irene's family offer their heartfelt thanks to all who helped to care for her. In lieu of flowers, donations to Wellington Free Ambulance in Irene's memory will be greatly appreciated. The funeral service for Irene will be held in the Ninness Funeral Home Chapel, 17 Kenepuru Drive, Porirua on Wednesday 18 March at 11.00am.

Our friendship began when my husband Mike and Stan had strokes on the same day - Irene was my "rock" and the boys became my friends as well - after the loss of both my parents in 5 months and then my husband Mike in August 2026 - I will always remember her with love with the carnations in my garden and other plants I got cuttings of - those we love don't go away they walk beside us everyday- rest in peace Irene "my fairy god mother"
