Marie and I remember Ivan with affection, mainly through our friendship with his wife Pat. Pat and I were active members of the Mana U3A, in particular the Reading Group, which we attended together regularly. We send our condolences to Pat and her family - I worked with Ross for several years, and we know Deb through our dear friend Richard Hill. Ivan was a precious man, and he will be sadly missed by his family.

Dear Levy Family
It was with sadness that I read that Ivan had passed away. He was my inspiration to learn pipe band drumming and any successes I had in solo drumming or band competition in general was due to Ivan and his wonderful drum corps with the famous City of Wellington. I was drum sergeant with the Hutt Valley Pipe Band for some years and it was always a pleasure to be in Ivan and the City of Wellington band's presence. His musical ability influenced my attitude to pipe bands in general. The New Zealand pipe band world has lost a dedicated member who will long be remembered.
Condolences to all the family. Regards Brian Jacobi

Dear Pat, Ross, Deborah, Kathryn and Mark
Although we knew the end was near, we the HANNING family of John, Pauline, Fiona and Ross were very saddened to learn of Ivan´s death. Our friendship of nearly 70 years involved regular weekly contact principally at band practices, parades, contests and meetings. Over this long period there grew a strong affection for Ivan as one of nature´s gentlemen, a man of integrity, a talented musician in addition to his success as a respected professional engineer. He was respected by bandspeople throughout New Zealand as a leading side drummer, teacher, adjudicator and corps leader and latterly as a bass drummer. He will be remembered with affection by pipe band enthusiasts world wide but especially in Wellington.
Requiescat in pacem, Ivan, may your percussion awaken the gods and the angels
