Condolences to the Fraser whanau.

I was indebted to Hugh because of his strong passion for implementing an outdoor education programme at Eastern Hutt School in the 1980s. His bushcraft skills were invaluable, and he imparted significant knowledge on to many students. We carry those skills with us for the rest of our lives.

Hugh was also a great tramping companion who accompanied our group on many tramps into the Tararua Ranges. He used to recount many tales at night around the open fires in the huts that we visited and especially stories pertaining to his service with the NZ armed forces (Singapore/Malaya??)

92 years is a significant life well lived. Fond and very vivid memories remain!!
