Joan passed away peacefully on September 18, 2025, at Bupa Winara, Waikanae; at the age of 82. She was born in Ontario, Canada. Wife to Ray (deceased). A mother to Linda, Scott, David and Shannon. Joan was a proud grandmother to 4 grandchildren: Ashleigh, Sam, Sydney and Cameron. An Aunt, Sister, a friend to many and beloved by all. She had a love of reading, writing, gardening, animals and travelling. Joan's other hobbies were card making and floral arrangements. Joan lived a full and joyful life surrounded by family, friends, and a community that loved and respected her. She spent her early childhood in Ontario before moving with the family to Auckland, New Zealand in 1969. As a young girl she embraced time spent with family and friends at their cottage in Bronte, Ontario. Upon leaving school Joan worked for Bell Telephone in Canada. In New Zealand, the Auckland Public Library, then the Takapuna Library, where she got her HT License to drive the Mobile Library Van. Moving to Waiheke Island, Joan took up the position as Office Manager at Te Huruhi Primary School. Joan will be remembered for her fun-loving and generous nature. She had a way of connecting with people and her memory will live on in the hearts of all those who knew and loved her. Donations in Joan's memory may be made to the Mary Potter Hospice,
