Unfortunately I am unable to be there with you all to celebrate Uncle John´s life.
I will always remember him as a very intelligent man who lived simply and without fuss or material clutter.
What a wonderful legacy that is to leave behind
I admired Uncle John´s resolve to finish the book he spent many years writing and also the family tree he put together and which we are fortunate to have a copy of.
My Mum shared a special bond with her baby brother and enjoyed the times they spent together especially in the latter years before she became unwell.
My heartfelt thoughts will be with you today as you remember the good times and celebrate the special man your Father was. I know he will be missed by all who knew him...
All my love
Jenny

Hello Fiona, Ben, Toby and Luisa. I first met John and you all in Aitutaki in 1971, walking in the shallows of the huge lagoon there. That was the beginning of many encounters, often in the outdoors. There was the Heaphy Track, the Mt Robert Circuit, and once, by chance and very memorably, when I was walking the Abel Tasman and you sailed your trimaran into Torrent Bay. A G & T on the ocean! What fun! That's how I remember John best I think - in the outdoors. My condolences to you all. Rest in peace John.
