Passed away at Wellington Hospital on the 16/10/2025 while holding Lucy's hand. Adored partner of Lucy Hill for 44 years, loved brother-in-law of Jane and Simon Hill, Sara and Patrick Mccunnie and "Tanta John" to Jesse, Richard, Finn, Shannel, Jasper, Maisie, Charlie and Grace. I am greatly saddened to hear John is no longer with us. As a former colleague and friend, I wish I had seen him more often in recent years. I will remember his larger-than-life personality, passion and enormous skill in his work, quick sense of humour and the fantastic smile that went with it. My sincere condolences to Lucy. John was an exemplary man, and I know he will be missed by many.
