John HAMILTON

Shihan, Kempo & Tai Chi Master. With great sadness we announce the passing of John Hamilton, aged 89, who died peacefully 8 December 2025, surrounded by loving family. John was the beloved husband of Kay, a loving father to Jo, Bill (deceased), and Duncan. He was a cherished father-in-law to Reta, Bill's wife. He also loved Donna, Duncan's wife. He was a swimming champion and instructor. His commitment to martial arts earned him the title of 7th Degree Black Belt in Kempo, he was also a Tai Chi Master, leading to his induction into the Martial Arts Hall of Fame, an honour he carried with quiet pride. He leaves behind a legacy of love through his grandchildren; Haley, Ben, Amy, Jade, Billie, Kelly, Max, Alex, Zac, Jordan & Matt, and his great-grandchildren; Oliver, Zoe, Lyndsey, Stevie, Lyra, Lenny, Layton, Brooklyn, Cora, Archie and Emmy. A service to celebrate John's life will be held at Ninness Funeral Home, 17 Kenepuru Drive, Kenepuru, at 1.00pm on Friday, 12 December. John will be remembered for his quiet strength, gentle humour, endless supply of jokes and the deep love he held for his family. He will be dearly missed, especially by the love of his life, Kay.
