HART, John Reed
April 21, 1934 – August 9, 2017
John Hart, pianist extraordinaire, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at the age of 83 years. John started teaching piano at Prairie Bible Institute in Three Hills. He moved to Calgary to teach piano at the Mount Royal University conservatory, freelanced as a church musician and performed regularly as lounge pianist for the Delta Bow Hotel and the Highlander Hotel. He recorded a piano CD called "Hymns I Love", of which he was especially proud. John was a blessing to the seniors and staff at Cedars Villa where he had them singing, whistling, dancing, and smiling as he daily played their favourite songs on the piano the last three years of his life. A Memorial Service will be held at Highwood Lutheran Church (419 Northmount Drive NW) on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. Photos, memories and condolences may be shared with John's family through www.evanjstrong.com.
