Way back in 1963 we met John and Ann and fellow immigrants on the Northern Star and had good times. Pathways led us in different directions but we never forgot the good times. Ben Voyage John on your next "adventure". And our warmest wishes to you Ann, and for the support and love you will get from your family. Regards, Maureen and Ben Lee

Dear Ann,
I was sorry to hear of John´s passing and wish to send my condolences to you and the family.
I worked with John for many years within the Union movement and my memories of John are wide and varied. I remember him as a committed and hard-working organiser with a deep regard for all workers. He had the ability to work closely with workers in times of struggle and worked hard to achieve fairness on their behalf. He always worked well and supported all of his colleagues and there were many laughs and good times along with the debates and disagreements. John and I disagreed on various issues but John always gave as good as he got! I think we both enjoyed the sparring!!
I was a friend of Karen Donaldson for many years who was a partner in the mussel farm with you all. I was fortunate to visit the Sounds once or twice and have many memories of those times.
John loved his family and I remember him telling us of their activities and adventures with kindness and love. I wish you and the family well for the future.

My heart goes out to John's whanau as it is with much sadness that I read of his passing. John was my union organiser way back in 2001 when I wanted to be a member of a real union not a company one when I started work at The Warehouse. My most fondest memory of John was when my husband passed away in 2009 having John Siggie there beside supporting me and my whanau through our grief.. He sang songs with us and dried the dishes alongside us.. a humble, kind hearted genuine man. My heart always smiles when I think of you thankyou an old school union organiser who truly will be missed. Peewee..

Dear Ann and family
John was legendary in the union movement in Wellington. He was always chirpy and positive in either work or social gatherings and extremely helpful and full of great knowledge, and would stubbornly never give in, even against the most difficult of employers. We all knew how he loved socialising at the yachting club, and having a yummy meal and wine with them all brought out Johns sparkling character. I even have a great memory of spending one wonderful evening there with John, which resulted in me being introduced to all his friends as someone special.
