TORODE, John Lia:
(formerly of Guernsey, Channel Islands) Died peacefully at Malvina Major Care Centre, Johnsonville, Wellington, on 5 October 2021, aged 85 years. Cherished husband of Margaret, dearly loved father and father-in-law of Leigh and Herb, Matthew and Kath, Greg and Nga. Loved grandfather of Josh, Harriet, Danny and Aaron, and great-grandfather of Zachary. Special thanks to the staff at Malvina Major Care Centre for their devoted and loving care of John over several years. In accordance with John's wishes, a private service will be held at a later date. Messages for the Torode Family can be sent c/- 306 Willis Street, Aro Valley, Wellington. In lieu of flowers donations to Parkinson's Wellington would be appreciated and can be left at www.parkinsons/donate/

I bless the day when John and Margaret found their way to Paremata and provided us an idillic childhood with many a wonderful day spent at the Torode home. John was alway ready with a gregarious welcome, a wry glint in his eye and a good word for the Honda Motor Corp! A fierce competitor, I recall even well into his Parkinson's his beating us in table tennis, and then steadfastly declining any rematch to preserve his legacy. So many fond memories. RIP John.
