John was such a familiar face during my athletic career and even now I can still hear his familiar voice at the start and end of every race.

We had the pleasure of knowing John through our friendship with Jane.
We enjoyed many happy visits with John during our trips back to Wellington. He was always up for a cuppa and a chat about anything and everything. A wonderful father and friend who is dearly missed. Sending our heartfelt condolences to Jane, Ezra, Christopher, Mark and Raewyn.

John and I were both members of Scottish Harriers for many years. I would often see him in his capacity as a willing and able athletics volunteer and timekeeper. I enjoyed our chats outside of athletics topics too. John was a real gentleman who took a keen interest in many things and gave his time to many others over many years. My deepest sympathies to you all.

John, Rio, and family (mainly Chris) were kind friends to my family and I when they were growing up. We will never forget his friendliness and help over those years. I regret my loss of contact after moving from Kilbirnie but those lovely memories will remain. My deepest sympathy to you all at this sad time.
