Heart felt condolences to the Walsh family. Even though John's time had come, one can only imagine the huge void left within the family now that he has passed. For the brief time I came to know John, in his later stage of life, one could grasp the measure of a great character. A kind and decent guy whose family meant the world to him. Sunday evenings at the Walsh household were the best, always a celebration of laughter and cheer. It was truly my pleasure to have met John and his beautiful family. My thoughts and prayers with you always.

I have great memories of many functions, picnics, Sundays, and many family occasions with the Walsh family. This is the end of a great Irish era and I know how he will be missed of his family and friends. Sincere sympathies to all the family.

My fondest memory of John was when he convinced me that using Dynamite to fracture rock along a trench alignment was not going to be a problem. This was over thirty years ago and perhaps Health and Safety standards weren´t quite what they are today. As a young engineer there was no way I was going to miss this so I was sworn to secrecy and was with John when he let the charges off. One of my favourite days at work ever..!

As a young Engineer I was very fortunate to be Engineers rep on some of Johns projects and contracts. John always called me boy,i think that was his way of making sure I new my place and watch and learn. Ha we had some great projects and times explaining to council why the plan changed half way thru when John found a better way of doing the job. He would boldly say that 'the design was never going to work' so he changed it.
Always a well dressed presence in the office and back on with work clothes to join Jimmy and Michael in a trench some where. John, you were an inspirational leader that was well respected by all that had deals with you. Rest in peace. Regards Stan Goodman

Wellington has lost another pillar of the construction community.
Many fond memories of building core infrastructure in the greater Wellington area with John and his team over the past 40 years.
It was a pleasure to work alongside John and learn there was always more than one way to get the job done!!

Dear Kate and Vinnie, Maureen, Deidre and Paul, Theresa and the all the Walsh clan grandchildren.

We are so sorry for your loss and our love and prayers go out to you all at this sad time.

John was a constant of our parents generation - humble, hard working, wise beyond his years, generous, entrepreneurial, and of course with plenty of Irish charm in his DNA.

He will be sadly missed by his family, friends and the Irish community.

He has now gone to join May.
Dia dhaoibh and Rest in Peace.

Loretta, Phil, Sean and Ashleigh, Adam and Zeenat, Alexander and and Ellie.

My sincere condolences to Johns family. A hard working man that demanded the same of his men. A job well done, drains laid straight and true ( and better be done with urgency).
Look out if you are in the way!
John always had time to talk to me, a man of action. A life well lived.
Rest in Peace
