Joseph SCANLON Obituary

Our dearest father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away peacefully after a long illness on Friday, 22 August 2025. Much loved husband of the late Jean, father and father-in-law of Mary and Bill, David, Peter (deceased) and Maria, Michael, Patrick and Masako, Catherine and Geoff, Angela and Ben, Anne, Rosemarie and Justin, Daniel and Kate, Gerard and Jessica, Paula, Bernadette and Sam. Cherished Grandad George of thirty-four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Mary Potter Hospice would be appreciated and may be made online at www.marypotter.org.nz The Rosary will be recited at St Patrick's Church, 3 Childers Terrace, Kilbirnie, on Tuesday, 26 August at 6.30pm. The Requiem Mass will be celebrated at 11.00am on Wednesday, 27 August at St Patrick's Church. Tributes can be made online at www.tributes.co.nz.

Uncle George is a beaut gem of an Uncle and Loving Brother to our Mum Aunty Laura. He watched over and protected Her in Samoa and was always there for Her. My condolences to Joseph's family. I know some of you. I taught at St Patricks Primary school, where Joseph was the caretaker. He was a lovely man, a great family man. May he Rest In Peace. Eileen McParland.
