Margyn HILHORST Obituary

Passed away peacefully on the 6th April 2025, in the presence of family. Aged 69 years. Dearly loved wife and best friend of Nick. Loved mother and mother-in-law of Sam and Sarah, Olivia and Hamish, Sara and Russell. Loved Oma of Thomas and Henry; Freddie and Penelope; and Georgia. Loved daughter of Louwe and the late Philippina, loved sister of Alison, Graham and Richard and a loved sister-in-law, auntie and friend to many. A special thanks to all at Carter Court for their wonderful care.
A service for Margyn will be held in the Richmond Chapel, Richmond Road, Carterton on Thursday, 10th April 2025, at 11.00am, followed by private cremation. Messages to the Hilhorst family C/- P.O. Box 185, Carterton 5743 or can be left on Margyn's tribute page at www.tributes.co.nz.

So sad to hear of Margyn´s passing, she was an amazing, intelligent, strong, brave lady! She was an exceptional teacher, my children loved her and she was a warm and wonderful woman to chat with and know. Gone too soon, rest in peace Margyn.

So very sad to hear about Margyn today. She was someone I respected greatly, and I was always in awe of the way she expertly wrangled our littlest learners when we taught together at Gladstone School (2005- 2008) We would often bump into each other at all the 'teacher-y' events across the years since then, and her smile in greeting was always open, welcoming and lovely. You will be greatly missed, Margyn, rest in love xx To Margyn's beloved family and friends: "Na koutou i tangi na tatou katoa." (When you cry, your tears are shed by us all.)
