Beloved husband of Elizabeth Barr. Father of Richard and Debbie. Grandfather to Jessie, Matthew and Jack. A private cremation has been held, and a family farewell will be at a later date.

I had been talking with Martin earlier in the evening so it was a huge shock to learn he had passed away during the night.
Martin took me under his wing when I transferred to Wellington with the Post Office in 1966. We developed a close friendship providing support for each other in times of need.
I will miss him and his regular visits during which we recalled many memories of the past.

Much love to you all during this sad time. Martin was always so helpful and cheery and had a can do attitude to any work question I threw at him. He went out of his way to help me whenever he could and was a true gentleman. I will miss driving past your house and getting a big wave as I went by, or our chats at New World. Rest easy Martin xx
