Mary SHERBORNE Obituary

Passed away peacefully at home in Turangi, on 5 October 2025. Aged 88 years. Dearly loved wife of the late Ray. Loved mother and mother-in-law of Harry and Robyn, Tom and Jacquie, Jim and Trina, and Jeanette, and a much loved Nana. A service of celebration will be held at The Founders Chapel of Remembrance, 117 Rickit Street, Taupo, on Friday 10 October at 11.00am, to be followed by private cremation. Messages to the Sherborne family, c/- PO Box 940, Taupo 3351.

So sorry to hear of Mary´s passing. Great memories of our time together in Masterton and lately in Turangi, we will miss that wonderful chuckle. We are in Australia so we are unable to make the service. We send all the family our sincere condolences. We will be thinking of you all on Friday.

So saddened to read of the passing of Mary. I was at Waitara branch when she joined the NBNZ in 1954 and we have kept in touch ever since. A delightful friend and we had some fun times in those early years including the time she locked the manager out of the back door of the office. Mary and Ray were delightful hosts when I was visiting Masterton regularly for meetings not associated with the Bank. Sincere sympathy to their children, Mary was a loving caring Mother.

"Thanks for the memories" as the son goes Mary, and after knowing you for 74 years, there sure a lot! Our
daily emails over the last 6 or 7 years have been a highlight for me, not just to let each other know we're still alive, but to discuss EVERYTHING at great
lengths. Rugby, racing, all other sports, family, friends, neighbours like the fabulous Karen and Anthony and Steve, the amazing cousin Sheryl and
David, your beloved mate Ardie and all his followers, food of course, gardens, health, modern technology and changes to NZ in general, magic.
Just wish you were here to read this girl, but never
mind we might catch up again hopefully. Val Jones

Our sincere condolences, kind thoughts and sympathies to Mary's family at this moment.

We recall the fond memories of our many social NBNZ conferences in the Hawkes Bay Region with Ray and Mary when they were based in Masterton.

Plus funny moments of numerous trout fishing adventures based in Turangi, with very frosty starts on the Tongariro, but a warm morning greeting.

A very caring and wonderful hostess. Rest in peace.
