On November 26, 2025 at Hutt Hospital, Lower Hutt; aged 95 years. Dearly loved husband of the late Noreen. Much loved father and father-in-law of Diane & Rob, Geoff, Andrew & Kathryn. Grandad of Gareth, Brent (dec), Hayden, Jason (dec), Amy, Kimberley and Benjamin. In accordance with Maurice's wishes a private cremation has been held.

Sincere condolences to Maurie´s family. Maurie was the Station Officer on my shift at the Upper Hutt fire station back in the 1980s, and was one of the more competent and knowledgeable officers I worked under during my 40 year career. He was a gentleman and a great mentor. Many of us owe some part of our career to Maurie´s guidance and experience. RIP Mr Dowdle. Job well done
