Dear Shaun and Deane, I was sad to hear the news about your dad today. Mike was a top guy. I have memories of how kind and welcoming he was when we were kids. The last time I chatted to him was when I was last in Wellington way back in 2016. Thinking about you guys during this super difficult time. Also thinking about the rest of the family. Hope to catch up when I next get back to Wellington for a long overdue visit.

To Jenny, Liam, Siobhan and the extended family my sincere condolences on your loss. May comfort and strength surround you at this time of sadness.
Michael thank you for our years together and for being a great dad to our sons Deane & Shaun and granddad to Amelia and Imogen. Today (14th August) we gathered together and raised a glass of Moet to send you on your way and thank you for the many happy memories of family times spent together.
After your stroke some years ago you bounced back and even when things didn´t go well you always had a positive outlook but when your latest illness kicked in the light went out of your eyes and the last few months of your life were certainly not kind to you. You often questioned "why me" but it is like they say "only the good get taken first" and you were certainly one of the good ones as your many friends will attest.
You touched the lives of many and your passing will leave a huge gap in your family´s lives. You will always be remembered as being "a good bloke" who was, kind, gentle, a role model and a man who loved his family.
I was so grateful that your passing was peaceful and that Deane, Victoria and Imogen were with you till the end.
As your journey on earth has ended may you rest in peace knowing you leave behind people who loved you.
