Dear Jenny and family
I am so very sorry to hear of Murray's illness and death. My deep sympathy is with you in your loss. I would also like to acknowledge the leadership Murray gave to the protection freshwater in Canterbury (and so everywhere) and the informed yet passionate contributions he made to the debate (and, despite of his dispair this would come to anything) eventual acknowledgement of the state of our rivers. Yes this acknowledgement has finally forced action, and we will see improvements at least in some areas and in some future. You had foresight and wisdom, thank you Murray. Dear Jenny - I was saddened to read of Murray's death and I have followed his Water Rights articles with interest. I well remember our time as neighbours when Juliet was my parents' neighbour, as well as other connections between our families. At one time I was on the Merrin School Committee with Murray, where he was direct, valuable and humorous. He was a great contributor to society and a loss to all.
With sincere thoughts to you and your lovely family, fond regards, Margot x
