Very sad to hear that Pat has passed.
He was part of childhood when he first arrived in NZ from Ireland.
My parents were Vince and Mary Prendergast.

Paddy and I first met in the late 80s. We worked together for a number of years. In that time we developed a good friendship. I was very sad to hear of his passing, but have many fond memories of our times together, from nights at Molly Malones to dinners at his and Maria's home. I was lucky to spend time and enjoy his hospitality with my family in the last few years. Sincerest condolences to all Paddy's family at this time. He will be dearly missed as he was an awesome character. God bless, from Phil and Alex Trail.

Paddy (& Maria) were very early clients when hanging out my investment shingle in the early 1990’s.
The account may have been of modest ($) size but was always one my most cherished, partially for being an early one but largely because of Paddy’s ever joyful manner/speech.

Way after I retired we’d meet up in the Kelburn pub in a vein (informal) attempt on my behalf to limit his natural sharemarket inclinations.
It was a joy one year to have him join a four to play in a charity golf tournament out at Royal Wellington as indeed it was to bump into him one night more latterly, relaxing down at The Backbencher.

Maria’s voice answering the phone for so long after no longer being with us, showed such devoted love and affection.
Finally, I hope Paddy you were as proud of what you’d achieved in this life as those of us who admired you, knew to be the case: A life, by all accounts, well lived.
