Peter CAMPBELL Obituary

Born 11-10-1933
Died 13-01-2025

After a long game going into extra innings, Dad slid into home base on the 13th of January 2025 with a score of 91.
Married for 63 years to Patricia Mary Tudor, he was lovingly outnumbered by 3 daughters, Sarah, Rachel and Rebecca. He has collected along the way 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Dad was a hugely loyal friend and sportsmate to many cobbers. He was a whisky and gin enthusiast and could play the piano, bagpipes, harmonica and spoons with natural talent. His research and record keeping for NZ Softball and The Evergreens takes up half the garage - any takers?! He also had a love for reading and has a book collection that rivals the National Library.
We would like to thank all the staff at Waikanae Lodge for their incredible care, patience and compassion for Dad as he played his last innings. You are all angels.
We will miss you so much Dad. Bye-bye for now, bye-bye.
A celebration of Peter's life will be held in Kapiti Coast Funeral Home Chapel, 9-11 Hinemoa Street Paraparaumu, on Tuesday, 21st January 2025 at 1:30pm.

I worked with Peter just before his retirement and took over his sales territory in Taranaki after he left. These were the biggest pair of shoes I´ve had to fill in my lifetime. I have the clearest and fondest memories of PCC. Such a hoot. Being 41 years his junior he was surprised when I joined him in singing Hallelujah I´m a bum in the smoko room one lunch time. I´ll never forget Pete.

To all the Campbell clan please know that our thoughts are with you and of course Peter. One of the best, who I first met on the diamond in Hamilton in the 1963/64 national tournament when Peter was representing the South Island and I was playing for the North. Peter is the only player that I can recall who made both the South and North Island representative teams, a feat in itself.
He has been missed at the regular lunch get together for some time but always remembered in discussion. An outstanding player and a true sportsman in every way.
With fond memories
