A brilliant referee who
contributed to all levels of rugby from Primary and Secondary schools through to test level, including inumerable invitation and social games. A truly delightful individual.

E Te Rangatira,
haere,haere,haere atu ra,
Haere i runga i te rangimarie.Hoki atu koe.
To the family of "Sir" , heartfelt condolences.
My association with Peter McDavitt goes back to the 1950´s!
I was a pupil of his at Pomare School, Standard 5/6 .My `favourite´ teacher, who I have
written and talked about since then. His task was great, and kept control of us with his large corderoy blue duster!! He never cleaned it! Thus the dust was plentiful upon it, an ideal misile thrown mainly at `the boys ` his aim was 99.9 percent rate high, but once I remember copping it by mistake!!
My enjoyment, from his teaching ,became Geography, singing,an interest in all sport, and ballroom dancing.
We learnt the names of all the States of USA, the National Anthems of many countries he visited, (from his refereeing) and peoples of the world. This set a desire within me to visit these too.55years later I too travelled x3 around the world!
Friday afternoons was ballroom dancing and he continued with after school lessons. No one wanted to miss his lessons. This was my teenage passion - living for Friday´s to be able to go to the dances In Wellington. Ngati Poneke Hall, the Trades Hall too.
I too am an educationist, inspired by Sir, to instil a love of language, travelling, peoples of the world, even when I too, taught at Pomare School.
Farewell Sir, enjoy your next journey.
From Mary Waitaiki nee McCrea.
