Robert MALTHUS Obituary

In Tokyo, Japan, on 27 November 2024, aged 72, with his long-time partner Elisabeth Sowerbutts, Paul went in his sleep during a holiday in Japan. Loved brother and brother-in-law of Diana and the late Fred Goodall (Wellington), and Phil Malthus (Tampa, FL, USA). Loved eldest son of the late Frank (Neville) and Jeanne Malthus. Thanks to the team at HeartWorks NZ who helped him keep on doing his twin passions in life: dancing and travel. Special thanks to George Nicholls and the team at The Studio, Wellington for many years of dancing. A celebration of Paul's life will be held at The Pines, Houghton Bay, Wellington, at 2.00pm on Tuesday 17 December. Please RSVP to Lis at [email protected] for catering. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart Foundation NZ.

Paul - a beautiful and humble person to be around with a lovely smile, fly and dance with the angels like no one is watching, remembering you and Liz at this time now and forever. Farewell and Rest In Peace Paul.

Paul Malthus - it is difficult to remember Paul without also remembering Lis who complemented their partnership. Together they were an item. Their love for each other was blatantly obvious as they floated around the ballroom floor or tripped around the world. Paul was, I think, naturally quiet and a bit shy, but very happily alive with Lis, last seen heading off over the horizon, a happy man. Rest now, Paul. Lis cherish your memories. Be at peace.
