Earlier today
Syd was my dad´s older brother and as children they spent a lot of time together and were very close.
When Syd and Pat visited us in England, they were always great fun and dad and Syd always reconnected.
I spoke to Syd on his 100th birthday and he was in top form.
Today is Remembrance Day and Syd was rightly proud of how he served his country in the Royal Navy in WW2.
RIP Syd

Kia ora koutou,
I would like to pass on the sincere condolences of staff, students and whanau of the Otaki College community for your recent loss with Syd's passing.
He has served his country, community and most importantly, his whanau with distinction.
It was always a great honour to have his attendance at the SS Otaki Commemoration Services and on a personal note, I can pass on that I had nothing but immense admiration for Syd and the members of the NZ Artic Convoy Club!
He will be missed by all.
Nga mihi,
Andy & Otaki College Community
