Vernon PHILLIPS Obituary

Passed away peacefully at Village at the Park, Newtown, Wellington, on Sunday 30th November, aged 75. He is survived by his loving wife Michele Haines, his devoted daughters; Jane Phillips-Bell and husband Andrew Bell, Amy Phillips and partner Simon Bowie. Loved and missed by his stepsons Jeremy Haines and partner Gina Waibl, Nick Haines and wife Melissa Haines. Vernon was a loved grandfather to grandsons Harrison and Charlie Bell, and step-grandfather to Sophia, Luisa and Henry Haines. Much-loved son of the late Mary and Bob Phillips of Auckland. Loved eldest brother and brother-in-law of Bruce and Jan Phillips, Elizabeth and Steve Sampson, Therese and Wayne Adsett, and Robert Phillips and Kate Sajjadi-Phillips, and loved by all of his nieces and nephews.
Thank you to the wonderful staff at the Buchanan and Mary Coleman units at Village at the Park, Wellington, for their excellent care of Vernon over the last year. Vernon's Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St Theresa's Catholic Church, 210 Saint Andrews Road, Plimmerton, on Friday 5th December 2025 at 11.00am, followed by private cremation. A vigil service will be held in the Church on Thursday evening at 7.00pm.

We fondly remember enjoyable times in Vernon´s very good company when living in Melbourne (when Vernon was seconded to the Australian Taxation Office) and in Wellington. Sad to read of Vernon´s passing. Sincere condolences to family and his many friends.
