Brian ANDERSON Obituary

ANDERSON, Brian Leslie:
Died at his home in Hamilton on Sunday, August 21, 2022, aged 80 years. Treasured husband of Dorothy Wales; predeceased by Peter (Lorna), Brian was the adored brother of Clive (Pamela) and Jenni Anderson. Modest to a fault, Brian's unique sense of humour and capacity for hard work and innovation was admired by his devoted friends and his Australian and Canadian families. At his request, a private cremation has been held. In lieu of flowers, donations could be made to Parkinson's New Zealand at parkinsons.org.nz. All correspondence to PO Box 276, Hamilton 3240.

Then, we do everything else."

Aroha nui from the Fretz/Zube family xxx Dining out options were rare when we arrived in Hamilton in 1972 so my parents were just thrilled to find Anderson's and get to know Brian & Dot. (And I've never forgotten how thrilled I was as a 4 yr old when Brian let me use the little brush to sweep bread crumbs off the Anderson's tables!) He gave me my first job (dishwashing at Left Bank) and later I served burgers at Neon City. His culinary skill & creativity and his generous, warm personality meant our family followed Brian to each of his wonderful & varied ventures over the years. A lovely man who made a lasting impact on those he knew and his community. Moe mai ra.

Dear Dorothy,

Sending condolences and best wishes at this very sad time following Brian's passing.

I remember Brian's warm smile and hospitality when he ran the University's Staff Club on Hillcrest Road. A gentleman, a good man who will doubtless leave a large hole in your life and that of many others.

May your memories, friendships and connections uphold you now and in the future.

Warm regards,
Lindsay Cumberpatch

I was the 'Leftbank Theatre' Manager in the 1980s and 1990s with productions from Theatrevue and Starmakers Drama School working out of the small theatre below Brian's restaurant near the river. He had a way with him that always made us laugh. He will be missed by all who knew him and his Master Chief standards.

This is Storm and Wayne POWELL. I had the pleasure to work for Brian and Clive back in the times of the theatre Restaurant. Had many laughs . My son used to sit on the bench in the back kitchen watching what was going on and he must have been motivated by the hustle and commotion by Brian the master chef that he himself went on to be a current Owner Chief running a mobile catering service for the Film and advertising Industry. Thank you Brian for being my best employer ever. Ka Aroha to whanau Pani.

I had lots of fun with Brian at Riverlea Theatre. We still talk about his skills and use his wonderful props. Nothing was too difficult. Condolences to his family.
