William MILBANK Obituary

MILBANK, William (Bill) Handley. 25.10.48 - 04.11.23 Son of the late Hazel and Bill and brother of Gorham. Very dearly loved husband of Raewyne, father of Yael, Sian and Chad, father to Karin, Peter and Sean and their partners. Grandad of Liam, Xavier, Anabella, Boston, Frankie, Chloe, Taya, Tasman, Van, Jade, Ella, Macy, Neve, Rena and Teo. Loved uncle of his many nephews and nieces and brother-in-law to Yvonne, Noel, Paul, Rachael, Tony, Mike, Tece and the late Simon, their partners and all of Bill's wider family members. Treasured friend of Philip and Lee Trusttum. Bill was a gentle, kind and humble man whose family meant the world to him. In accordance with Bill's wishes the family have farewelled him privately. We are enormously grateful to the team at the Sarjeant Gallery for their care and support. A memorial event to acknowledge Bill's contribution to the local and national arts community is planned for next year.

To Mrs Raewyne Milbank and the Milbank families. Please accept our condolences in the sad passing of Bill, or Billy as we knew him from the Mangaeturoa School and Pipiriki Road days where our families had been neighbours and friends for many years. From what Gorham has explained to us, Bill's health had deteriorated in recent years, but nevertheless it is still a shock to hear this news. Our thoughts are with you all at this time. Regards, Garrick & Maureen Workman.
