To the family of LTC (Ret) Paul Saiz,
My deepest condolences goes out to all of you. Paul was one of my Commanders that served under me while I commanded the 93rd Brigade. He was an excellent Aviator, intelligent Officer and a compassionate leader. He really did care for the people placed in his charge. I really enjoyed working with him and supporting him throughout his career. Know that he was a proud son of New Mexico and that he will be missed but not forgotten. May God Bless you all. Norbert E. Archibeque, COL (Ret), NMARNG

Sra.

Though I had lost touch with Paul over the years, I have always held him in the highest respect, regard, and have the fondest memories of the times we shared. His family and friends always will. He was a man with great character, compassion, and concern and love for his family and friends. From a young age, he exemplified the values, characteristics, and desire to be the best teammate he could be, (first by being a part of our basketball team, then as a lifelong member of our military). I remember him telling me in high school that his calling was serving our country. I always knew he would do it with tremendous success and would become the hero he was meant to be, though his personality and values would not let him admit as much. He celebrated teammates success and accepted sole responsibility for diversion from goals or a plan. He never would allow family, a friend, or stranger to suffer alone. Right, wrong, or indifferent, he came to the defense of those who did not have the means to stand alone, and he did it with the ferocity of a Chow defending his backyard. He continuously proved his immense courage, strength, and superior intelligence in his accomplishments in service to our country and education. After all, he selected and graduated twice from NMSU. It takes a special person to be an Aggie for life. In all of this, he succeeded and made it look easy.

I hope that all of us can achieve the level success Paul was as a person, father, son, brother, and friend. I will do my best to let others know who he was and teach others to be like him. I am sure that he would tell us, in this time of sorrow, uncertainty, and anxiety, that we should take the time and make all efforts to make amends with those who we have disagreements, live for others, but most of all, hold and continue loving those closest to us.

I pray that God consoles you, gives you peace, and provides you assurance that Paul is with Him. We are not privy to His will or plan for us, (which, I am sure is best) but in Paul, He proved His mastery of perfection. Of course, we all may make what appears to be mistakes or possess flaws, yet, without a doubt, those intricacies, quirks, and apparent imperfections are what make us unique and perfect.
