James "Jack" Troy Lawrence

AGE: 84 • Union Beach

James Troy Lawrence, "Jack", 84, of Union Beach, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, April 23, 2014. Jack was born on Dec. 30, 1929 in Newark and as a child moved to West Virginia with his mother and father. After spending some time in WV, he and his family returned to NJ, settling in Irvington, where he grew up. Later on in life, Jack spent some time living in Keansburg and ultimately settled in Union Beach to raise his family. Throughout his life, Jack worked as a machinist for Crown Engineering, retiring about 20 years ago. He was also a proud U.S. Army veteran, where he served our country during WWII. He was predeceased by his parents, Troy and Eleanor (Wolf) Lawrence. Jack is survived by his beloved wife, Gladys (Worden) Lawrence; his loving children, James Morgan and his wife Charlene of Middletown, Jacqueline Morenz and her husband James of Atlantic Highlands, Sharen Sacchi and her husband Roger of Union Beach, Troy Lawrence and his wife Michelle of Union Beach, Marc S. Lawrence and his wife Darleen of Middletown and Steven Lawrence and his wife Kimberly of Keansburg. Jack is also survived by his dear brother, Paul Brickhouse of Keansburg; 23 cherished grandchildren, 21 adored great-grandchildren and many special nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He will be sadly missed, but never forgotten. Family and friends are invited to visit from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday, April 26, with a prayer service beginning at 4:30 p.m. at the Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 3269 State Rt. 35 N, Hazlet. In respect of Jack's wishes, he will be privately cremated. Jack had always wanted to help in rebuilding the American Legion Post #321 of Union Beach, therefore, in lieu of flowers, donations in Jack's memory to the American Legion, Post #321 of UB, would be greatly appreciated.
