Ledbetter, Bill E.
Bill E. Ledbetter was born October 11, 1925 in Henderson, TN. He attended schools in Chester County. After returning from military service, he attended U.T. at Martin, TN for 1 year and West Tennessee Business School at Jackson for 1 year. He entered into the Army in 1944, served 2 years in the European Theatre of Operations, and was seriously wounded near Bastogne during the Battle of the Bulge. He was appointed Rural Mail Carrier out of Henderson Post Office and served for 38 years, retiring in Tucson, AZ in 1986. Bill continued to work in building and trades until ill health forced his retirement in 1994. In 1958, he married Peggy Ann Moore, his devoted wife of 55 years, who survives him. He leaves 4 sons, William A., Joe M. (Chris), Barry M. and Ron M.; four grandchildren, Tanner, Austin, Aubrey Anne and Randy Ledbetter. One sister survives, Nancy Smith (L.O.) of McPherson, KS and several nieces and nephews. Four brothers and four sisters predeceased him. Bill was a member of the Northgate Church of Christ, Phoenix, and served as Trustee for several years. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM, with funeral to follow at 12:00, on Monday, April 28, 2014 at Northgate Church of Christ, 16612 N. 21st Ave., Phoenix, AZ 85023. Burial at 1:30 PM at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Rd., Phoenix. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions may be made to or Northgate Church of Christ/Inanda Christian School (Zambia, Africa). Please visit for online condolences.
