Tweet, Donald (Don) Raymond (Tvedt)
was born on August 27, 1928, in Newfolden, Minnesota and passed away on April 11, 2013 in Peoria, Arizona. Don was the youngest son of the late Ida (Nelson) and Peter Tvedt's nine children. Don and his brother Maynard opted to change the Norwegian surname Tvedt to "Tweet". Don and his wife Patricia "Pat" Miller Tweet were married on October 11, 1952, and recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. They were the proud parents of 6 children, 6 grandchildren and 5 great- grandchildren. Don is survived by his wife, Pat; his sisters, Marlys Peterson of Fargo, North Dakota and Pearl Nelson of Beaverton, Oregon; sons, Larry and Jeri Tweet of Prescott Valley, James and Bob Neilson-Tweet of Mesa, Robert and Lori Tweet of Phoenix, Thomas Tweet of Phoenix, Kenneth and Loretta Tweet of Goodyear, and daughter, Debra and Frank Smith of Glendale. Don served his country as a "Seaman First Class" in the U.S. Navy from 1946 to 1948 on the U.S.S. Bushnell. Don received a Bachelors of Science in Accounting from University of Minnesota in May 1952 and later became a Certified Public Accountant. He worked for Minnesota Woolen, John F. Forbes, Arizona State University and retired from the University of Arizona as Finance Director of the U of A Medical Center. Don enjoyed sports throughout his life; was an avid sportsman/hunter, enjoyed camping, coaching Little League, spending time with his family and friends and could always be found on the golf course in his free time. He was an active member of the Elks Lodge #2532 in Tucson, AZ. A Memorial Service will be held in Tucson, Arizona on Monday, May 6, 2013 at 11:30 AM at Bring's Broadway Chapel, 6910 East Broadway Blvd, Tucson, Arizona. A reception will be held at Rolling Hills Golf Course, 8900 East 29th Street, Tucson, Arizona following the service. bringfuneralhome.com
