Jones, Robert Lee (Bob)
passed peacefully to his eternal reward on April 21, 2013. Born in Arkansas City, KS in 1925, Bob served in the Navy in WWII as a Pharmacist's Mate on an LST. He had degrees in geology from the University of Kansas and Ohio State. Bob was a petroleum geologist in the midwest until he moved east in the 60's and worked as a geotechnical civil engineer in CT, eventually opening his own consulting business. He and his wife, Jo-Anne retired to Sun City West in 1994. A concerned citizen, Bob served a three year term on the SCW Governing Board and twelve years on the PORA Board where he was chairman of both the Water Committee and the Roads, Traffic and Safety Committee. He also served for twelve years on the Maricopa County Planning and Development Commission and four years on the Arizona Oil and Gas Commission. As chairman of Our Lady of Lourdes' Parish Building Committee, Bob was essential in planning and building Prince of Peace Church in SCW. Bob was an active member of the West Valley Petroleum Club, West Valley Chorale, his parish church choir, Balladeers and the Sun City West Symphonic Band. He leaves behind his cherished wife Jo-Anne; daughters Suzi Lawless and Marcy (Alan) Westfall; grandchildren Alison (Paul) Fields, Phillip Beith and Katy Beith; and great grandchildren Alec and Audrey Fields. He was predeceased by his daughter Sylvia Beith. A memorial Mass in his honor will be held on May 24, at 10:00 AM, at Prince of Peace Church,14818 Deer Valley Rd., SCW.
