Dewis, Victor M.
Victor M. Dewis, 90, of Cave Creek, Arizona, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2013. He has gone to join his beloved wife, Susan, whom he was married to for 57 years. Victor was born in Plaster Rock, New Brunswick, Canada on November 14, 1922 to Blair and Lily Dewis. Victor came to the United States from Canada with his parents and sister, Marguerite. Victor graduated from Royal Oak High School in Royal Oak, Michigan and he later graduated from General Motors Technical Institute. Victor served in the Royal Canadian Air Force, United States Army Air Corp, and the United States Navy during World War II. After the War, he married Susan Baldwin on November 14, 1945 and they had 2 twin daughters, Susan and Victoria, and a son, David. Victor worked in advertising sales for National Tool & Die and won many awards over the years as Salesman of the Year. Vic was a skilled and avid golfer. He enjoyed music and playing his guitar and singing his old favorites. Vic and Sue raised their family in Royal Oak, Michigan and Lake Orion, Michigan. In 1978, they moved to Cave Creek, Arizona and enjoyed many happy years with their wonderful Cave Creek friends. Vic and Sue volunteered for many years with the Cave Creek Fiesta Days Rodeo. Vic served as Treasurer and Sue as Queen Coordinator. Victor is survived by his twin daughters, Susan and her husband Dale Carpenter of Grosse Ile, Michigan and Victoria Galante and her partner Susan Kreps of Phoenix, AZ, and his son David; grandchildren, Brian and Jefferey Carpenter. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Susan, his father and mother, Blair and Lily Dewis, and his sister, Marguerite Chittick. A Celebration of Victor's Life will be held in Michigan, arrangements pending. Thank you to all of Victor's wonderful home caregivers and inpatient caregivers at Banner Hospice.
